Walk, cycle, run or use public transport and earn rewards with BetterPoints Surrey.
Did you know you can earn rewards for your journeys?
Whether you're walking to the shops, cycling to work, going for a run or catching the bus, BetterPoints Surrey rewards residents for choosing healthier and more sustainable ways to travel.
The free app is easy to use. Download the app, register and switch on automatic tracking. Then carry your phone with you and the app will automatically record eligible journeys, so there's no need to press start and stop.
Every time you walk, wheel, run, cycle or use public transport, you'll earn BetterPoints. These can then be exchanged for high street vouchers, spent with participating local businesses or donated to charity.
You'll also have the chance to take part in special challenges and win prizes. Previous rewards have included electric bikes and European city breaks.
Real-life rewards
James, a BetterPoints Surrey user, says the app helped encourage his shift from driving to walking more often.
"Now I walk almost everywhere. In any weather, if a journey takes 15 minutes or less, I'll walk."
What started as a way to earn rewards has become part of his daily routine. Regular walks now help him stay active, spend more time with his wife and reduce his reliance on the car.
"Overall, the changes have made things healthier and cheaper. I'm spending less on fuel and car maintenance, getting regular physical activity, whilst earning a few rewards along the way."
Through the app, James has also tried different ways of travelling, including taking the bus instead of driving, and discovered affordable public transport options he hadn't considered before.
