It's now easier than ever to charge your car close to home, thanks to the installation of more than 800 public electric vehicles (EV) chargepoints across Surrey.

The rise of public chargepoints

The number of electric vehicles registered in Surrey has increased by 50% between 2023 and 2025, but for many people charging at home isn't an option. Residents living in flats, rented accommodation or homes without driveways can often face challenges when it comes to owning an EV.

That’s why we have partnered with Connected Kerb to install over 800 public chargepoints across Surrey. Almost 700 of those chargepoints are on street, with many installed in high street locations or on residential roads where there is little or no off-street parking.

Most of these chargepoints provide slow 7kwh charging, ideal for overnight charging and day to day use. Making it easier for residents to charge their vehicles close to where they live and spend their time.

We have also installed almost 150 chargepoints within existing lampposts. Taking advantage of the existing electrical connections to quickly and easily install discreet chargepoints for residents.

Suggest a new location

The data shows the chargepoints are popular, with kwh usage increasing by 75% from June 2025 to June 2026. If you’d like to suggest a location for one, please add one to our online map for it to be considered.

Not got a driveway?

If you want to charge your EV at home but don't have a driveway, you can install a cable gully.

Cable gullies are channels installed in the pavement that can be used to safely allow an EV charging cable to cross a pavement.

They are suitable for people who can install a chargepoint at home but don’t have a driveway and can regularly park outside their home.
