"I am already noticing the difference on how much warmer the place is staying.”
Like Julie from Runnymede, you could be eligible for a free home upgrade averaging £12,400 through the Warm Homes Local Grant. The government-funded scheme is helping residents improve energy efficiency and reduce energy costs.
Surrey has been awarded £13.9 million over three years to support households living in harder-to-heat homes. If you qualify, you could receive improvements averaging around £12,400, with no cost to you.
Support available
The grant funds a range of energy-saving improvements tailored to your home. These may include:
- Insulation (such as loft, cavity wall or underfloor)
- Draught proofing and improved ventilation
- Double or triple glazing and energy-efficient doors
- Solar panels (Solar PV) and battery storage
- Low carbon heating, such as air source heat pumps
Not every home will need or be suitable for all improvements. A specialist survey will identify the most effective solutions for your property, and you’ll be able to talk through the recommendations and decide what works best for your home.
Julie from Runnymede, has benefited from the grant, saying:
“I am very satisfied with the work completed; the work has been completed quicker than expected and to a high standard.
I am already noticing the difference on how much warmer the place is staying.”
Eligibility
You may be eligible if:
- Your household income is under £36,000, or you receive means-tested benefits
- Your home has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D to G
- You own your home and live in Surrey
If you don’t already have an EPC, one can be arranged for you as part of the process.
Process
If you’re eligible, a trusted surveyor will assess your home and recommend suitable upgrades. Once approved, work will be carried out by accredited installers from our trusted network.
Most upgrades are straightforward to install, and your installer will explain what’s involved before any work begins. Timelines can vary depending on your property and the type of improvements recommended, but the team will keep you informed throughout.
