Farnham Library hub

A hub for the community

The Farnham Library Hub will bring together library services, registration appointments, ceremonies, and community spaces in a modern, welcoming building in the heart of Farnham. It will provide a shared community space where residents can access services, take part in activities, meet others and find support.

The Library Hub is part of our investment in community facilities, making it easier for residents to access a range of opportunities in one convenient location. By creating flexible, shared spaces, we are improving access to public services and ensuring community buildings continue to meet residents' needs now and in the future.

Community activity areas and meeting pods

The refurbishment has enhanced the library's facilities, creating flexible spaces for residents, community groups and local organisations.

Improvements include:

  • A vibrant children's library designed to inspire a lifelong love of reading
  • A modern meeting pod with capacity for 6 people for community use and banking appointments
  • Upgraded furniture and shelving
  • Refreshed and flexible spaces for community use
  • Improved accessibility and inclusive design throughout the building

These improvements help ensure the Library Hub is a welcoming and accessible space that supports learning, connection and community life in the heart of Farnham.

Registration services

Registration services will be introduced at the Farnham Library Hub. This means residents will be able to register births and deaths in a convenient town centre location. Having registration services in the same building as the library will make accessing these services simpler and more convenient for residents. Find out more about registration services.

Ceremonies

The Culver Room in Vernon House will be refurbished to provide a new ceremonies venue in the heart of Farnham. This can be used for weddings, civil marriages and partnerships, renewal of vows and baby naming ceremonies.

Any proposed changes to Vernon House, in line with its listed status, will be undertaken in accordance with statutory requirements and necessary consents. Find out more about Surrey ceremonies.

Progress and next steps

October 2026 update

Library services

The refurbishment of Farnham Library has now been completed, and the improved library space is open to customers. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Final works to install accessible customer toilet facilities are due to begin in autumn 2026. We will update this page once the facilities are available for public use.

Registration services

Refurbishment of ground floor and back-of-house areas will create modern registration spaces, a new ceremonies room and an upgraded accessible toilet with baby change for all hub users.

The new registration space is expected to open in November, with a phased launch planned ahead of full operation. The opening date will be confirmed later this summer.

We’ll keep you updated on progress and any changes to service provision during these works on these pages.
