Designated Teacher's training for the summer term:

Pupil Premium Plus (PPP) for looked-after children

Date and time: Thursday 5 May 2022 3pm to 5pm

This session will examine the purpose of Pupil Premium Plus (PPP) and provide evidence-based ways in which PPP can be used to support the educational outcomes of Surrey's looked-after children.

Supporting looked-after and previously looked-after children with transition

Date and time: Thursday 2 June 2022 3.30pm to 5pm

This session will provide strategies to support Designated Teachers and Education colleagues in planning for transition.

New to role Designated Teacher induction training

Date and time: Thursday 7 July 2022 11am to 1pm

The Designated Teacher (DT) is the lead member of staff in school or college, responsible for promoting the educational experiences and outcomes of looked-after and previously looked-after children. Surrey Virtual School (SVS) is keen to work closely with DTs to support them in their role, and is pleased to offer this Induction Training for staff who are new to role. For experienced DTs and DTs seeking to develop their knowledge further, please visit our website for full details of our current and future training offer.

This two hour session will cover the following topics and be delivered by the Surrey Virtual School team:

  • A virtual introduction to the SVS Team and areas of responsibility
  • An exploration of why children and young people become looked after
  • An introduction to the impact of trauma on education and engagement in learning
  • The role of SVS in supporting looked-after (CLA) and previously looked-after children (PCLA)
  • The role of the DT, including statutory guidance underpinning this role and model school policies for CLA.
  • An introduction to Surrey's e-PEP process including Needs Analysis
  • How SVS and the Surrey EP Service can support you in your role.

Welfare call E-PEP training for statutory school age pupils

Date and time: Tuesday 12 July 2022 4pm to 5pm

This session will provide an introduction to the Statutory School Age (SSA) PEP including how to use the PEP portal, the quality assurance process, and useful hints and tips about the information needed within a Surrey PEP.

Welfare call E-PEP training for post-16 leaners

Date and time: Wednesday 13 July 2022 4pm to 5pm

This session will provide an introduction to the Post-16 PEP including how to use the PEP portal, the quality assurance process, and useful hints and tips about the information needed within a Surrey PEP.
