Avian influenza outbreak in Surrey

Captive bird keepers within the monitoring zones – action required

On 21 December 2022 avian influenza was confirmed at premises near Horley, Surrey.

Trading Standards Officers are working with Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) to respond to this outbreak.

If you have birds of any description (including poultry, game, birds of prey, aviary or domestic) and your premises is located within the Captive Bird (Monitoring) Controlled Zone (the area within three kilometres of the infected premises), you must use the reporting form to tell us the numbers and types for disease surveillance purposes.
