Book a registrar for your marriage or civil partnership ceremony

Coronavirus: Important information

Surrey will move into Tier 2 of the government's restrictions on Wednesday 2 December 2020.

Marriages and Civil Partnerships will be able to take place with a maximum of 15 people (where possible with social distancing). This maximum number includes the couple and guests but does not include anybody working at the ceremony e.g. registrars or photographer.

For Surrey Register Offices, with social distancing, the following applies:

  • Guildford - Artington House six guests and the couple
  • Leatherhead - The Mansion six guests and the couple
  • Weybridge - Rylston four guests and the couple

Civil Partnership

A Civil Partnership is an administrative process allowing you to contract your Civil Partnership with each other by completing the legal paperwork in front of your witnesses. A Civil Partnership does not include a ceremony. If you would like to include a ceremony when forming your Civil Partnership, please let us know when booking.

Important notice

We are currently dealing with an extremely high volume of enquiries and we aim to respond within six working days.

If your enquiry is regarding a new booking we aim to respond within 10 working days.

We are prioritising enquiries for couples who have ceremonies booked within the next month as well as those who are checking dates to reschedule with their venues.

We kindly request that you do not send more than one email, as this will impact on our ability to respond to your enquiry.

You can book a registrar for a ceremony at a register office or licensed venue, up to two years before your ceremony date.

Please check availability with the licensed venue first, before booking your registrar.

Ceremonies enquiry form

To book a registrar, please complete our online ceremonies enquiry form. Our ceremonies office will then check availability and will contact you by telephone. Please note that it may take up to 10 days to respond to your new booking enquiry.

We will discuss the legal preliminaries that you need to complete and send you detailed information about the ceremony itself.

You do not need to have any specific paperwork or identity documents to make a booking.

Please read our ceremony bookings terms and conditions.
