You can ask to join the register if you are disabled or have a long-term medical condition.
Each company keeps their own register.
You can contact them and ask to be added to the register.
Energy
Your energy suppliers are the companies that provide you with electricity and gas.
The help they can give you:
- tell you when there is going to be a power cut (if they know)
- priority help in an emergency
- ID and password scheme so you know if it is really them if they contact you
- you can tell them someone you trust to get bills and letters for you
- read your meter for you
- give you information in a way that you can understand
Water
Water companies provide water that comes into your home.
The help they can give you includes:
- tell you if they are going to turn off your water
- move your meter so you can read it or help you to read it
- use a password you give them, so you know who they are when they knock on your door
- give you bills in a way you can understand
SES water offer a range of services to customers including:
- water support to help with bills
- 1 to 1 appointment with a ‘Here for You Support Officer’ to complete forms and help with bills

Communication
Communications providers are companies that provide phones and broadband to you.
The help they can give you includes:
- priority fault repair
- you can tell them someone you trust to get bills and letters for you
- give you information in a way you can understand
- use of emergency SMS (mobile only)
Social tariffs for broadband
Social tariffs are special cheaper deals available to some low-income customers.
They do not usually have the same price rises or charges when you leave.
The broadband provider decides who can have this.
Some offer social tariffs to people on some benefits.
The account holder must be the person getting the benefit.
Lots of people who could have this have not signed up.
Energy Advice
Surrey Coalition of disabled people can help you save money on your energy bills.
They can help with:
- joining the Priority Services Register
- signing up for a Home Energy Advice Taskforce (HEAT) survey of the Surrey Energy Advice Tool (SEAT)
- energy grant application
signing up for pension credit (to get Winter Fuel Allowance)
