The Plain English Campaign has awarded our site the Internet Crystal Mark for its clear language and usability.
The Crystal Mark is an internationally recognised symbol of clarity and the Internet Crystal Mark is the ideal way to show that we are committed to plain English throughout our website. Plain English takes into account design and layout as well as language and we aim to do everything practical to make our site crystal-clear.
The Disability Symbol is a recognition by Jobcentre Plus to employers who have agreed to meet five commitments regarding the recruitment, employment, retention and career development of people with disabilities.
Investor in People is a national quality standard which sets a level of good practice for improving an organisation's performance through its people.
We have been working towards recognition of the whole authority using a building blocks approach, service by service. The current position is that every part of the organisation has been assessed and found to meet the Standard and so, from April 2002 Surrey County Council, as a whole organisation, has been recognised as an Investor in People.
We have registered our site with the Internet Content Rating Association as being suitable for everyone.
