The Surrey Minerals Local Plan 1993 is the current minerals plan for Surrey. The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 made provision for saving the Local Plan policies for three years unless they were replaced by a new development plan within that period. Preparation of new development plans has taken longer than expected and the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government has directed that certain policies should be saved beyond 27 September 2007.
These policies will therefore remain part of the development plan until policies within local development frameworks prepared under the 2004 Act are adopted to replace them. In the case of the Surrey Minerals Local Plan 1993, the following policies have been saved:
