For a scenic cycle along country roads, the Surrey Cycleway gives you the chance to explore some of the most beautiful parts of southern Surrey. The best-known landscape feature is probably the North Downs a rolling swathe of hills formed from chalk.
You could visit Leith Hill the highest point in southern England or explore the woods of Ranmore Common. Farm parks, historic houses, cafes and tea shops the list is endless. Visit the South East England Tourism site to find out more.
The route uses quiet country roads and lanes and is well sign-posted.
These signs show the route to take and also alert motorists that cyclists share the road.
Apart from the main loop there are a number of 'links' which enable you to do shorter circuits. There are also links to major towns in Surrey (e.g. Epsom, Woking and Farnham) that aren't on the Cycleway proper. These links are identified by signs with the words 'Surrey Cycleway Link' on them.
The total distance is 150 km (94 miles) but there are many more leisurely short routes. The shortest and flattest route is between the Outwood link and the Leigh link this is only 14km (9 miles) long.
