Safeguarding children including child protection

The statutory guidance issued under section 175 Education Act 2002 for maintained schools, and Colleges of Further Education, and section 157 for Independent schools was reissued November 2006, as one document, replacing the three previously available as "Safeguarding Children in Education" "Safer Recruitment and Selection" and "Dealing with Allegations".

The "Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education" publication is available from the TeacherNet website.

Below are Surrey County Council documents for schools about safeguarding children and child protection.

All agencies and education providers should be using the Common Assessment Framework to ensure early identification of children in need, and the provision of services for them where necessary. To refer a child in need, or at risk of harm, to social care, please read the guidance documents attached at the bottom of the page.
