Museums

There are over 40 museums and galleries in Surrey, all very different from each other. Some are run by the boroughs, some are independent, some are charities, there are three army museums and many are run entirely by volunteers. The variety includes those based in beautiful listed buildings, a massive hangar on a famous old racetrack, outdoor attractions with transport, animals or bygones and many with lovely gardens.

Collections have a big range of specialities. Most can tell you about local history, the people, the jobs and industries, the landscape, the towns and villages but also we have wonderful collections of costumes, wildlife, geology, Gertrude Jekyll, paintings, stone age weapons, toys and teddies and much, much more.
