Transfer to junior school (year 3)
If your child is in their final year of infant school, you must apply for a place in year 3 between September and mid January of the school year before your child is due to transfer to junior school.

Transfer to secondary school (year 7)
If your child is in their final year of primary school you must apply for a place in year 7 between September and the end of October of the year before your child is due to transfer to secondary school.

Applying for a place in any other year group
You can speak directly to local schools to establish whether there is a vacancy in your child's year group and complete an
In-year application form. Information and contact details for local schools can be found on our

Applying after the closing date
We only consider late applications after the applicants who met the deadline have been offered places. However for late applications for secondary school we may consider some late applications (up to 30 November) if the application could not reasonably have been made by the closing date. This may happen, for example, when contracts are exchanged on a new house after the closing date, or in certain other exceptional circumstances. You must provide proof of permanent residency (that is, evidence of an exchange of contracts or a rental agreement which must be for at least 12 months).
If you move into Surrey after this time, you will be considered as a late applicant. For further information and for an application form, please call the Surrey Schools and Childcare Service on 0300 200 1004.
If you fill in a form after the closing date, please disregard the instructions at the top of the form and send it directly to the Admissions and Transport Team, Grosvenor House, London Square, Cross Lanes, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 1FA.
