1. What are befriending services?
Befriending services provide one to one support by trained volunteers. Befrienders provide emotional support at times of change or difficulty. Evaluation of the service provided has been positive. All befrienders belong to local support groups.
2. Friends of the Elderly - Surrey
They are a charity offering support to to older people to stay living in their own homes through a range of community services including day clubs, home support, home visiting and telebefriending.

Friends Care Helpfinder and Befriender Service
The helpfinder service is a freephone helpline providing information and advice on local and national services to those in need.
The befriending service provides volunteers who will visit clients at home to help them access appropriate services, particularly prior to hospital treatment.
1st Day Support
This is a service to help older people and other vulnerable adults following attendance at an Accident and Emergency Department (A&E), on discharge from hospital, after day surgery or who are unwell at home.
They will also offer the same level of support to people whose carer has been admitted to hospital for a short period of time or who is unwell at home.
Mentoring & Befriending Foundation
Promotes mentoring and befriending.

CHEER
(Concern and Help for East Elmbridge Retired) covering Esher, Claygate, Hinchley Wood, The Dittons, Molesey, Cobham and Oxshott.
CHEER is a registered charity affiliated to Age Concern England, offering independent advice and information for older people. Help with financial difficulties especially benefits, including home visits for those unable to visit the office.
A befriending scheme offers a home visiting service for housebound retired people.
The office is open from 8.30-11am weekdays, answerphone after office hours.
