organise regular cycle rides for the inexperienced cyclist. Full details on their Healthy Rides webpage.
The rides are normally on the second Saturday of each month, but check the website, and are typically 20 to 25 miles long with a break for a pub lunch. The routes tend to keep to quieter roads and we use off-road paths wherever possible, although the occasional stretch of busy road is necessary. The pace is gentle, no more than 10mph, but we go at the pace of the slowest and nobody gets left behind. The rides always start from outside the Hand & Spear at Weybridge Station at 11:00am, there is no need to book, just turn up on the day. For more information consult the web-site: www.elmbridgecycle.orgor call George James on 07930-320241.
For the over 50s there are the GO50 cycle rides organised by Age Concern.
The Cyclists' Touring Club (South West London branch) runs cycle rides for beginners every Saturday afternoon. The rides start from the Mansion Cafe, Nonsuch Park in Ewell departing at 2pm. There is a choice of at least two rides.
The rides are specifically aimed at the inexperienced cyclist. They are led by experienced leaders and the rides are along quiet roads to well known local destinations. A refreshment stop is always included with a return to the Mansion Cafe by 4.30pm. A typical ride is to Oaks Park, Sutton via quiet roads and bridleways. Bicycles of any type are suitable.
