Concessionary bus travel is free for Surrey senior citizens of eligible age and for disabled people. Find our more about who is eligible and how you can use a bus pass on our frequently asked questions page.
If you are applying for the first time from 1 April 2011 you can visit any of the 23 participating libraries and the staff will help you with the online application and take a digital photo for the pass. There is no need to make an appointment. Alternatively you can apply online from home but you will have to take your proof of identity to the library. Once your application has been processed your bus pass will be posted to you.
You will need to take the following with you to the library:
About one month before the pass is due to expire you will receive a reminder letter advising you how to renew the pass. If all details such as your address are correct you will be able to renew your bus pass online or at one of the 23 participating libraries or if you are not able to access your nearest of the 23 libraries you may return the slip on the letter. If any details require a change then you will have to visit a library and provide evidence of the changed details, such as a recent utility bill showing a change of address.
If you lose your bus pass or if it is stolen, you should report it in person at one of the 23 participating libraries. The council will then arrange for a new bus pass to be sent to you but there will be a charge of £5 that should be paid at the library at the time you report the missing pass. However, if you are unable to get to a library, you can send a cheque for £5 made payable to Surrey County Council to the Surrey County Council Concessionary Fares Officer, County Hall, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey KT1 2DY together with your name and address, date of birth and a contact telephone number.
