Items hired from the Wardrobe are charged at a small fee per item. Prices are based on our minimum hire period of 7 days (1 week) and include VAT at 20% and cleaning. Additional weeks are charged at 25% of the one week charge.

Price List

The price charged for any item is dependant on the item chosen, its quality, condition and relative value. There are different scales of charges for adults and children. To qualify for the child’s rate the child must be under 18 and in full time compulsory education.

Minimum spend

From January 4th 2012 a minimum spend of £25.00 applies.

The minimum spend has been introduced to reflect the value of the time and expertise of staff. If the hire charge for the items you wish to hire is under £25.00 then the minimum spend of £25.00 will be charged (unless you are part of our annual membership or friend’s scheme). You will be given an opportunity to terminate your appointment before incurring the minimum spend if it looks like the Wardrobe does not have the items you require. If you decide to stay for the full appointment then you are agreeing to the minimum spend of £25.00. Deposits

All customers are expected to pay a deposit unless they have signed up for our annual membership scheme. For more information about the membership scheme and how to become a member please see our members and friend's scheme page.

Deposits must be paid by card prior to items leaving the Wardrobe premises. Deposits are charged on a sliding scale relative to the level of your hire charges.

Hire charges up to £50.00 require a £75.00 deposit

Hire charges up to £100.00 require a £150.00 deposit

Hire charges over £100.00 require a £200.00 deposit

How to pay

We accept cash, card or cheque (Cheques must be made payable to Surrey County Council). Payments are non refundable.

Payment must be made in full before hire items leave the Wardrobe premises unless the terms of your membership include payment by invoice. Other payment options are available to members.
