Enjoy a good read? Relish a lively conversation? Like meeting people in a friendly environment?
Over 700 reading groups in Surrey are supported by Surrey libraries. We offer a specialist service, providing multiple copies of books, including brand new titles, to private and library-based groups.
You can find information on starting a reading group together with the borrowing guidelines for book loans to reading groups. There are many useful and interesting web links for reading groups, both new and established. Occasionally a library-based reading group with spaces will be happy to welcome new members.
Surrey libraries run regular book related events, such as author visits, workshops and health-related events throughout the year. Our brochure is produced six-monthly and is available for you to pick up in your local library. Alternatively you can download the brochure from our website. An email will be sent to reading groups about 6 weeks before an event, giving you time to inform the rest of your reading group of a talk that might be of interest to them. As well as bestselling authors such as Hilary Mantel, Philippa Gregory, Sandra Howard and Peter James, Surrey libraries have recently hosted events with Domenica De Rosa, Tom Hart Dyke, Lynda Bellingham, Jojo Moyes and Tess Gerritsen.
New and popular titles are promoted on our website, and we also offer the facility for reading groups to review books they have read, and read reviews left by others online.
Is your group asking what shall we read next? Look at our suggestions chosen specifically with reading groups in mind. And if you would like to buy a set of books, perhaps our reading group book offer might appeal to you - just £3 for up to 10 books.
