Firework safety

Every year thousands of people across the country are injured by fireworks, some of them are scarred for life.
The majority of these casualties are children under the age of 16, and the injuries are caused by playing with fireworks on the street. This is closely followed by accidents in the home caused by displays in the garden.
By treating fireworks with respect and following The Firework Code you can ensure that your family does not become another victim.
Other firework safety tips
- Keep a bucket of sand, water or garden hose handy.
- Consider the wind direction and the location of nearby properties, particularly those with thatched roofs.
- If you are having a bonfire watch the children closely and make sure it is fully extinguished before leaving it last thing at night.
- Avoid alcohol - one drink could be one too many.
Finally
Why not simply attend an organised professional display instead of having fireworks in the garden? It is much safer and will be just as enjoyable if not more so!
