Gap year information
There are some helpful websites which give advice on funding, travel, projects, work and volunteering.
Blogging on the road
Smart gappers don't e-mail, they blog. Instead of spending hours tapping out messages to friends and family, today's travellers create online diaries crammed with podcasts and movie clips. The easiest way is to join a community site such as
Realtravel or
Travbuddy, where you can make friends and share tips. If you plan to post rich media, try
Travelpod. If you want more control over your pages and to retain copyright sign up at
Blogger,
Wordpress,
Spaces,
Yahoo. Most sites are free, with the option to have pay-per-click ads. If your site is original enough it might just keep you in noodles and beer.
