Counselling

Counselling is a service provided only after carrying out a care assessment that identifies it as a particular need. We may provide counselling by using fully trained Surrey County Council staff or by using an external organisation that specialises in a particular area. For example, we may use "Cruse" for bereavement counselling.

Examples of the type of counselling possible include:

  • cognitive behaviour therapy;
  • anxiety management;
  • anger management and;
  • drug and alcohol abuse counselling.
In some cases referrals will be made to your GP surgery where a counselling service may be available.

You may also wish to contact your local citizen's advice bureau which will be able to provide you with a list of organisations that offer counselling services.
