The Local Education Authority (LEA) is required to fund individual schools on a formula basis. The schools' formula is reviewed on a regular basis, culminating in a formal annual consultation process with all schools during the autumn term.
During the year, consultative groups of headteachers, trade union and professional association representatives and senior LEA officers consider potential changes to the formula.
