School waiting lists

Community and voluntary controlled schools

If you have applied for a community or voluntary controlled school and you are not offered a place at that school, your child’s name will automatically be put on the waiting list of this school, and any other community or voluntary controlled school that is ranked on your application as a higher preference than the one you have been offered.

We will hold these lists until the end of the summer term 2012 (for September 2011 admissions). If you want your child's name to stay on the waiting list in subsequent years, you must let us know by writing to The Admissions and Transport Team, Quadrant Court, 35 Guildford Road, Woking, GU22 7QQ, at the end of the summer term. However, we strongly recommend that you consider accepting the school place that your child has been offered, even if it was not one of your preferences.

Vacancies on the waiting list will be filled according to the school’s admission criteria, not in the order in which you ranked the schools.

No matter how long your child's name has been on the waiting list, his or her position may fall if we add a child's name to the list who has a higher priority but whose parents were late applying.

If twins, triplets and other multiple birth siblings are at the top of the waiting list and only one place is available, the other siblings will remain at the top of the list until they can be offered a place, even if another child with a higher priority moves into the area.

Foundation, voluntary-aided and trust schools

These schools look after their own waiting lists. If you have applied for a foundation, voluntary-aided or trust school and you are not offered a place at that school, you should contact them directly to request that your child's name is added to their waiting list. This will not be done automatically.
