Educational Psychology information for parents

Educational Psychologists are members of the Surrey Children's Service and are based in the area offices at Reigate, Leatherhead, Guildford and Woking. Many have worked as teachers and all have additional training, qualifications and experience in how children and young people learn and develop.

Educational Psychologists work closely with teachers and parents to help children who are having difficulties with:

  • Any aspect of their learning and general development, including reading, writing, mathematics and communication skills.
  • Behaviour and managing their emotions.
  • Making good relationships with other children and with adults.
We also work with schools on a more general level to support them in areas such as behaviour management and teaching methods.

Our aim is to bring about positive changes for children and young people to help them make better progress in learning.

If you are concerned about your child's progress, you should speak to the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) at your child's school. For more information about how to find out if your child has special educational needs, please see: Does your child have special educational needs?
