Family Learning FL1a quality assurance and funding guidance notes

You should use these notes to follow our quality assurance and payment process. Please ensure that your school bursar/finance officer is aware of the financial process.

Completed quality assurance documents should be returned to:

Cheryl Brown
Family Programmes Co-ordinator
Camberley Adult Learning Centre
France Hill Drive
Camberley GU15 3QB

Course data form (FL2)

  • A course data form must be completed for each Family Learning programme.
  • The letter approving your Family Learning programme(s) gives a unique programme number for each programme. Please make sure that the correct number is entered on the course data form.
  • This form should be completed and returned to Cheryl Brown once the dates for a programme have been finalised.

On receipt of this form, 60% of the programme funding will be paid to your school. In most cases the payment will be by journal transfer, using the codes you provided on your project proposal. If your school wishes to be paid by cheque you should send an invoice for 60% of the funding.

The following documents must be returned to Cheryl Brown at the end of each programme:

Enrolment form (FL10)

  • An enrolment form is needed for all adults attending a programme.
  • The programme number, which is given on the letter approving the programme, should be recorded on each form.

Learning goals (FL2a)
  • The tutor should decide the learning goals and then agree them with the adult learners.
  • The tutor should then complete and sign the first section of the learning goals form.
  • At the end of the programme the tutor should ask each learner whether the learning aims have been achieved. Both the tutor and each adult learner should then sign an individual copy of the form.

Register (FL3)
  • A register must be kept for each session.
  • A blank format is provided.
    Adult learner questionnaire (FL7)
    • A simple Family Learning questionnaire is provided for the adults that attended the programme.
    • Adult learners should be asked to complete this to inform evaluation.
    • Schools may devise their own questionnaire provided all the standard questions are also included.

    Monitoring and Evaluation form (FL7b)
    • The monitoring and evaluation form should be completed by the tutor who ran the programme in consultation with the member of school staff with overall responsibility for Family Learning.

When all the above documents have been received by Cheryl Brown, the final 40% of programme funding will be released. In most cases the payment will be by journal transfer, using the codes you provided on your project proposal. If your school wishes to be paid by cheque you should send an invoice for the final 40% of the funding.

    Tutors/ teachers should also complete:

    Scheme of work

    • All programmes except FLLN workshops should have a written scheme of work.
    • It should be retained by the tutor/teacher.
    • Schools may find it helpful to retain a copy.

    Session plans
    • Unless already supplied, session plans should be completed for each session – these do not need to be highly detailed but should give similar information to the sample format.
    • Plans should be retained by the tutor/teacher.
    • Schools may find it helpful to retain copies.
