The marriage fee varies according to the venue of your marriage and the day of the week on which it takes place. For more information, read our Marriage fees page.
You will need documents to prove your nationality and residency. If you have been married before, you will need to bring a decree absolute of divorce, or, if your husband or wife died, his or her death certificate. You will need to bring any relevant deed poll or change of name documents and proof of parents' consent where one of the couple is under 18. You are obliged only to notify those organisations that have an interest in your identity, such as your bank, your employer, the Inland Revenue etc.
