1. How many items may I borrow on my library card?

You can borrow up to 18 items at a time with a maximum of 9 books and up to 6 of each type of audiovisual items (eg. 9 books, 6 CDs and 3 videos). For more information on other borrowing matters, read our Borrowing Items page.

2. For how long may I borrow library items?

Books may be borrowed for up to 3 weeks. Videos, DVDs, CDs, and CD-ROMs are issued for 1 week. For more information on other borrowing matters, read our Borrowing Items page.

3. Can I take items out even though I joined at another library?

You can use your library card at any Surrey Library. For more information on other borrowing matters, read our Borrowing Items page.

4. How can I check how many items I have on loan?

If you have your library card number and PIN, you can check your personal details, including how many items you have on loan.

5. How can I get hold of an item that you don’t have in stock?

Books held by any Surrey library can be requested at your local library or by using the on-line catalogue. If we do not have a particular book in Surrey, we can usually obtain a copy of the book you want from a library service outside Surrey.

A charge is made for requesting books.

7. Are there reduced charges for particular groups of people?

If you are 70 years old, or over, please let the staff know as no fines or administrative charges are made.

11. Can I leave my children in the library while I go shopping?

Young children must be accompanied by an adult in the library. Library staff will not be held responsible for young children. Please do not leave your children on their own.

13. May I use my personal laptop in the library?

You may use your personal laptop in the library. The battery must be charged. You may not use a library power socket.
