Materials that require special attention

There are restrictions on some materials that can be taken to community recycling centres. See special instructions below.

Group 1: What can be recycled at all sites but are subject to restrictions?

Construction and demolition waste icon

Construction and demolition waste

Small amounts in a car will be accepted, but waste transported in a van, trailer or pickup will be redirected to Epsom, Guildford or Sunbury transfer stations. Read our construction waste policy to find out what is classified as construction waste and where you can take it.

Aerosols icon

Aerosols

Cylinders with any remaining fluid in them can be dangerous and will need to go in the hazardous waste container provided.

Cooking oil icon

Tyres

Can be taken to any of the 15 community recycling centres but there is a limit of four per householder.


Group 2: What can only be recycled at certain sites?

Asbestos icon

Asbestos

Up to six double-wrapped sheets of asbestos to Epsom, Sunbury or Guildford transfer stations. Please contact SITA Surrey  on 01306 748300 before visiting.

Cooking oil icon

Cooking oil

Containers are available at Camberley, Dorking, Earlswood, Epsom, Lyne and Guildford.

Plasterboard icon

Plasterboard

Plasterboard and gypsum based products can no longer be landfillled. Containers available at Camberley, Earlswood, Epsom, Guildford, Sunbury and Woking. Plasterboard is considered construction waste and may only be deposited for free if brought to the site in a car.

Rubble and soil icon

Rubble and soil

Material transported in a van or pickup may be considered construction waste and you will be redirected to a transfer station.
