Farm Management

Farmland and smallholdings within Surrey County Council's estate are managed by external consultants, Chesterton Humberts, to ensure that the landscape is managed in an appropriate economic and sustainable manner. At present, all these managed lands are fully let. They can be contacted on 01730 261612.

Please note that some farms which form part of the County Council’s Countryside Estate have been transferred to Surrey Wildlife Trust, who are responsible for day to day management. Tel: 01483 795440.

Advice and help on all aspects of conservation and farming, including production of grant applications, can be obtained from the Surrey and Hampshire Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG), a charity supported by farmers throughout Surrey, with financial support from Surrey County Council. For further information, please contact Shaun Page, the Surrey FWAG Adviser: 01483 810887.

If you are a horse owner and have questions specific to horse keeping in Surrey, please see the Horse Pasture Management Project web pages, which include advisory notes on topics ranging from trees and hedges to creating exercise areas. This innovative Surrey County Council project provides advice for horse and pony owners on practical ways to manage paddocks for maximum benefit to the animals as well as to the landscape and environment.
