The Elmbridge area covers approximately 9,634 hectares and is predominantly a residential borough. Approximately 15km of the River Thames runs along the northern boundary. The borough also has approximately 30km of the River Mole, 1km of the River Ember and 7.11km of the River Wey running through it. It covers 5.14 km of the M25 motorway and 25.26km of rail. The local area office for the borough is based in Walton and deals with fire safety enforcement issues as well as offering advice to businesses and members of the public on general safety issues.
