How Surrey Fire and Rescue is structured

Surrey County Council is the designated Fire Authority under the Fire and Rescue Service Act 2004 and it discharges its responsibilities through Surrey Fire and Rescue Service under the leadership of the Chief Fire Officer and the Senior Management Board.

To achieve this role, we operate the Service within 3 key areas - Service Delivery, Service Support and Corporate Services:

  • Service Delivery undertakes the provision of our core functions to the community. This is implemented through prevention, protection and intervention activities based locally in the 11 boroughs and districts of Surrey. Service Delivery also includes staff development, fleet management and health and safety activities.
  • Service Support is responsible for providing the necessary arrangements to allow our frontline staff to undertake their role effectively. This includes human resource functions, business services, financial arrangements, ICT, premises and publicity/media relations.
  • Corporate Services leads on policy development, performance management, corporate governance, political management, audit and review and Service planning.
