Applying for or renewing a poisons licence

If you are thinking of selling and storing poisons, to do so you will need to apply to Trading Standards.

What are the terms and conditions?

Before applying for a Registration, please study our guidance on the sale, supply, storage and labelling of substances which have been designated as a Poison under the Poisons Act 1972 and Poisons Rules 1982.

How do I apply for a registration?

You can download an application form for a new Poisons Registration or to renew an existing Poisons Registration and return it, along with the necessary fee to Trading Standards.

How much does a registration cost?

  • The cost of a new registration per premise is £34.50p.
  • To renew an existing registration per premise is £18.
  • The cost to vary a registration is £9.
