Schools' library service

The Surrey School Support Service (Four S), has a Libraries' Adviser who works to provide advice, consultancy and training for head teachers, teachers and school librarians, to ensure that the school library is central to learning and supports the curriculum in their schools. Through the use of the library pupils will acquire a lifelong love of reading and achievement will rise as they gain the skills and the confidence to become independent learners.

Development offered includes:

  • Consultancy
  • Training for teachers and librarians
  • Practical advice on all aspects of planning and designing the school library environment
  • Library policy and development planning
  • Arrangement and automation of library resources
  • Training and meetings for school librarians
  • Creative projects to support literacy
