
The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 brought about a major change to the system of development plans with the replacement of regional planning guidance and structure plans by regional spatial strategies. Local plans, including minerals and waste plans, are to be replaced by local development frameworks (LDFs).
In July 2010, the government announced that regional spatial strategies were to be revoked.
For Surrey, the current development plan consists of:
LDFs are being prepared by the boroughs/districts to replace the Local Plans for their areas. The Local Development Schemes for each authority that set out the details and timetables for the local development documents that they intend to produce are available below.
We are responsible for producing LDFs on minerals and waste.
